N'Deayah, Maikel, & Wendy (Chapter One Questions)

Chapter 1:

 1. The African-American students are treated badly because when they had to read these books they had a list of people in the class and how they treated their books. And it said negros- poorly and then it said white- good. I don't think this is fair because that is offensive that they would put blacks as negros and that it is slanted, they could of at least put there names or put black instead of negros.

2. The Berry Family was mad because little man got in trouble for throwing his book on the floor, but he was mad because he saw what they called them in the books.

3.This tells me that racism in the south is not that bad but very offensive to people that are colored. I would  like to be friends with the Logan children because they probably would have a lot of things in common with me because of the way they have been treated because they are colored just like me.

Chapter 2:

1. Mr.Morrison has come to live with the Logans because Mr.Morrison had to go back to work even though the kids wanted him to stay home with them and then he didn't want the kids to know that he was staying home now or they would be mad at him.

2. The kids get their revenge on the bus driver is by making a puddle in the middle of the street so that when the bus driver comes through the puddle of water will not get on them and he could fall into a puddle on water while driving.

3. The African-American people faced because of their color because a lot of people have prejudices against black people and they wanted to stand up to them even thought colored people are suppose to show resepct to a white person.

4. It will feel very depressing, sad, mad, and confused to be the victim of hatred because I want to be surrounded around love only I do not want to be surrounded around hatred all my life

Chapter 3:

1. Th driver from the white childrens school bus splash the Logan children with the mud because they are colored.

2. The children gets their revenge by making a puddle of water in the middle of the street so that the bus driver could be cautious of the water and fall into the ditch puddle of mud. And yes I think it was right because the bus driver was always splashing them with mud and water on their sunday clothes and Big Ma had to make them a puddle of water to clean their selves up also.

3. It would feel sad and also great because I would love to have a big fancy car and take some people for a ride so they wont be left out and it feels sad because I don't want to ride around and brag about having what they dont have.

Chapter 4:

1.My big clue that T.J. is in trouble he is always saying things that can get him in big trouble and that he is always bad. And I think Stacey is friends with him because she trust in him.

2. I think Stacey felt sad about telling her parents her fight with T.J. because they probably have never got in fight like they did that day.

3. Cassie learns about her family form Big Ma is that just because they are black doesnt mean that they have prejudice against white people because most people think they do.

Chapter 5:

1. Big Ma parks the wagon far away from the Strawberry Market because people may take it and she doesnt want that to happen.

2. Yes I think Cassie should have demanded Mr.Barnett to stay at the store because what if he left her then she would be stranded.

3. I think Cassie felt worried that Mr.Barnett wouldnt wait on her at the market.

Chapter 6:

1. Big Ma trys to stop Cassie from telling Uncle Hammer about their day in Strawberry because maybe Uncle Hammer never wanted them to go to the Strawberry Market because there is white folks there and they might try to gang up on them like if they dont show them respect and let them get in the line first.

2. I think Big Ma means dont worry about what people think of you because you are a black young lady and if you live your life thinking about why dont white people like black people then your wastking your life time because while your living you need to enjoy yourself and think about your future or now.

3. I would rather have Uncle Hammer as my father in the story because he stays home and I would never have to worry about my father not coming home form dinner and stuff like that.

Chapter 7:

1. I think Uncle Hammer felt a little confused because Cassie is his friend and if he gets that messed up then he would be in big trouble because he could get it dirty quick, fast, in a hurry.

2. I think Mr.Jamieson agreed to put up the credit for the black families to shop in Vicksburg because Black people dont really get to have a chance of doing anything interesting in their life because it feels as though the  white takes over,

3. Everybody knows that Mr.Morrison has a hard painful life because his kids is always sad that he cant come home for dinner lunch or breakfast and maybe he misses them.
